Visible light transmission (VLT) is a measure that specifies the percentage of light that passes through the lens and reaches the eyes. Fully clear lenses for dark conditions typically have around 60-80% VLT and very dark tinted lenses with mirrored lenses for sunny conditions can have up to 25% VLT. Most multi-purpose lenses are between 25% and 60%.
